Specialized in the detection of poisonsed baits and animal carcasses, the European Canine Team, for the second time visiting the Special Protection Area de Moura-Mourao-Barrancos, conducted 10 inspections this year in this territory and detected an episode of poison use. Em Português
Very near the border that separates Portugal from Spain, on the penultimate work day of the European Canine Team, the dogs barked and showed the presence of poison on the ground. Spread around, were found impregnated baits and carcasses, in both sides of the border. Discovery made, the case proved to be a true example of collaboration between the different entities of the two countries: CEAI - Center for Iberian Avifauna (associated beneficiary, responsible for implementing the action in this area), SEPNA - Serviço da Protecção da Natureza e do Ambiente of the GNR, and on the other side, SEPRONA - Servicio de Protección de Naturaleza de la Guardia Civil and agents of Medio Ambiente.
Moreover, inspections made in areas where last year was found a considerable number of poisoned animals and baits, did not show traces of poisons, which reveals the pedagogical nature of these actions can have on the owners, managers of hunting areas and populations.

The search for poison in border areas has resulted in the cooperation between entities, involving the project team LIFE "Innovation Against Poison," agents of SEPNA (Portugal) and agents of Medio Ambiente and SEPRONA (Spain).
