The European Canine Team at Trikala, continental Greece pilot area |
ARCTUROS, partner of the Life+ project “Innovative actions against illegal use of poison baits at EU Mediterranean pilot areas”, is coordinating the European Canine Team at continental Greek pilot area from 8 to 18 of October. ελληνικά

The purpose of this action is to identify the use of poisoned baits in pilot areas of the project as Antichasia - Meteora - Koziakas Mountains (Natura 2000).
During this period of action at Antichasia-Meteora-Koziakas pilot area, the team is composed by 3 canine guide and 4 dogs, which track the poison baits at municipalities, hunting and extensive livestock areas.
Results of the first week of inspection of the European Canine Team in the municipalities Kalambaka (Vlahava) and Portal (monk Saint Vissarion, Neraidochori) founded 4 dead dogs, 1 fox and residues of poisoned baits at the community of Kalogyroi.
In the morning of october 15th, at 09.30h, there was a public demonstration of the canine team at Vlahava Kalambaka village, followed by a public talk about the project and debate apout illegal use of poison baits.
